Catheter securement keeps tubing where it should be. An unanchored catheter moves with the patient, tugs at the insertion site and catches on bedding, clothing and transfer equipment — which is uncomfortable for the patient and disruptive for the staff managing the line. Anchoring devices take that strain off.Two products cover the common needs. The Catheter Securement Strap – Leg fastens around the leg and is the usual choice for patients who are up and about or using a leg bag, holding tubing against the limb so it moves with the patient rather than against them. The Catheter Anchoring Device secures the line at the site itself.Both are routinely stocked by rest homes, district nursing teams, continence services and families managing catheter care at home.
